Cost of Insulin
The cost of insulin in the United States continues to rise, and our country maintains the highest cost globally with each separate insulin type. From 2012 to 2016, the price of insulin has doubled, and without both education and people taking action, the price will continue to rise. Insulin is starting to become inaccessible to the people who need it. Without access to affordable insulin, patients tend to ration what they can. This can have dangerous consequences and may even lead to death. Nobody should have to forgo their medicine because they cannot afford it – insulin should be available to all those who need it. Access to affordable insulin is a human right.
