Amongst all social issues we face today, the presence of misinformation is a significant roadblock to achieving success towards them. With the amount of news sources, social media platforms, or physical advertisements Americans consume daily, it is more difficult to distinguish real information than ever before. Defending false information online has never been easier; anyone can create groups to defend certain viewpoints on historical events, current political entities, and social issues without knowing if the information being defended is even true. With this rapid spread of false news and the defending of information without the knowledge of its source, it is hard to imagine an improvement to this social issue. So how can we, as Americans, combat the presence of misinformation?
