Ami Tomonari is an artist and graphic designer based in North Carolina and will graduate in Spring 2024 with
a B.S.D. in Graphic Design. After receiving an Associates in Fine Arts in a community college, she aspired to
continue her education related to art. When not doing classwork, she is usually hanging out with her friends,
playing games, and most importantly, making art for herself.
Overconsumption occurs when we consume too much resources and end up with excess waste, causing environmental
concerns such as climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss, and more. The human population has recently
gone up to 8 billion people and will continue to rise up to 10 billion by 2050. With more people, the more we
consume.
The rising population is not necessarily the problem but how we consume responsibility and wisely. We can
achieve this by sustainability, including using reusable items such as cups, grocery bags, and other items and
repurposing them, buying less and only necessities, and saving energy to name a few. Every individual should
be mindful of what they buy and how they can be sustainable as much as possible and be responsible for our
planet’s health as well as ours.
