Delaney Gerasta is a multidisciplinary designer from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Born into a family of both artists and analysts, Delaney found talents in visual artistry and mathematical thought from a young age. While earning a B.S.D. in Graphic Design with a minor in Statistics, she has developed a method for approaching design challenges with a data-driven mindset, focusing on patterns, research, and analytics. She is enthusiastic to continue utilizing design as a tool to translate complex information and improve experiences across communities through UI/UX design, UX research, or data visualization following her May 2024 graduation.
Death is one of the most unifying experiences across all mankind, but the way in which we approach and support end-of-life care does little to maintain quality of life for most patients. Worldwide, less than 20% of people who need palliative care currently receive it; a resource that provides emotional support, spiritual care, and symptom management for patients and their families facing problems associated with a life-threatening illness or condition.
Palliative care is a supportive technique, to not only accompany medical care, but even maximize it to make it more effective across all stages of treatment. It is not a last resort, as many believe it to be. All the evidence points to the consensus that people live better and longer with a unified approach.
