Haley Paloma is a 21-year-old designer specializing in poster, brand, and motion design. Her interest in the creative arts first began as a way to decompress from school, but it soon became her utmost passion. Soon to be graduating with her B.S. in Visual Communication Design in May 2024, Haley has a global perspective on developing her design expertise. Artificial intelligence seems too good to be true in some aspects, especially when it comes to assisting law enforcement. Predictive policing is an artificial intelligence algorithm which is built by feeding data into a computer. This computer is trained to look for patterns created from previous crime information in order to predict when, where, and who is most likely to commit a crime.
Issues that come from predictive policing include over-policing low income, black and latino communities, keeping existing racial bias in the criminal justice system, and more. In short, the quick solution that is artificial intelligence has deeper problems than what is revealed.
