Isabelle Clem is a multi-disciplinary designer first & an Arizonan desert rat second. A tinkerer at heart, Isabelle finds the greatest joys in design through exploration processes that develop visual solutions that cultivate genuine connections. Isabelle is passionate about discovering the intersectionality of visual design and outer communities that engage unique experiences into forms that resonate. While she’s dotty about design, Isabelle finds design as an excuse to revisit her favorite films & extend her postcard collection as she looks for inspiration. Come May, Isabelle will be earning her BSD in Visual Communication Design at Arizona State University with a specialization in Digital Audiences.
For your day to day life, the commute may be abundant in options and opportunities. With nearly 45% of Americans left without access to public transit, the scarce alternatives to transportation leads to disproportionate and detrimental effects on low income and communities of color. As job sprawl intensifies in the US, it exacerbates the spatial mismatch, disproportionately affecting communities of color compared to white communities. This disparity further compounds the challenges faced by rural cities in accessing employment opportunities, perpetuating economic and social inequality.
The basic tenets of equity demands an equal distribution of burdens and benefits throughout a society; Transportation planning can help achieve better social inclusion freeing personal autonomy through redistribution of mobility resources towards communities that are otherwise passed by.
