A soon to be graduate of ASU, Riley Perdue finds herself exploring as many different parts of design she can find. She entered the degree with the goal of pursuing work in branding and marketing, and recently completed an internship in this line of work. Knowing that she adores brand design, she wants to continue exploring any and all forms of design. Having gone into this line of work as an artist and art history lover, she ventures to learn as much as she can and just explore.
Conversion therapy is an umbrella term for medical and non-medical attempts at curing homosexuality. It has been practiced since the late 1800’s, and was originally started by doctors in an attempt to treat homosexuality as a disease. It has taken many forms since, including practices such as hypnosis, aversion therapy, electroconvulsive therapy, exorcisms, testicular transplantation, and lobotomies.
Thousands of LGBT individuals live with the trauma of surviving such aggressive and hurtful treatments. It has statistically proven to push some as far as suicide, and yet is not only legal but practiced all through the United States and several other countries. There is a movement to introduce legislation to protect the underage teens and children being involuntarily subjected to this abuse.
