Tam Bui is a multidisciplinary designer based in Phoenix, Arizona. She is a first generation Vietnamese-American that continues to find inspiration through her culture everyday. During her time at ASU, Tam has harbored a passion for the creative field and hopes to continue to develop her design aptitude. When Tam’s not designing, you can find her creating illustrations, and spending time with her friends and family around the world.
Academic freedom is the freedom of students to pursue knowledge wherever it may lead, without fear of retaliation or discipline. It is the very cornerstone of scholarly inquiry, research, and innovation. As the decline for Academic freedom continues, students lose access to foster critical thinking, empathy, and a diverse understanding of the world, hindering their abilities to develop essential skills such as critical analysis and empathy. Moreover, the quality of education suffers, and societal development continues to stagnate. We must protect this freedom in order to ensure that academia remains a space where perspectives and ideas can truly flourish.
