    Marine Plastic Pollution

Marine plastic pollution is a major environmental issue caused by the massive amounts of plastic waste entering our oceans. From single-use plastics to microplastics, this pollution harms marine life, disrupts ecosystems, and even affects human health. Sea creatures can become entangled in plastic debris or mistake it for food, leading to injury or death. Over time, plastics break down into tiny particles that contaminate water, seafood, and even the air. Human reliance on plastic, poor waste management, and lack of recycling contribute to the problem. Addressing marine plastic pollution requires global action, including reducing plastic use, improving waste disposal, and promoting sustainable alternatives. Without intervention, plastic waste will continue to threaten ocean biodiversity and human well-being.

    Textile Waste In Ghana

Every week, Ghana receives 15 million items of secondhand clothing, known locally as “obroni wawu” or “dead white man’s clothes.” While many view this as a way to dispose of unwanted garments, nearly half of these clothes are unsellable, creating a significant waste crisis. The discarded clothing floods the sea, clogs drains, and attracts diseases. Once a vibrant community, it has now become the world’s largest unsanctioned clothing dump. This waste crisis harms the environment and disrupts local livelihoods, as the overflow of unwanted clothes makes it difficult for vendors at the Kantamanto market—one of the largest markets in the world—to make ends meet.

Domestic Violence Effects on Family Relationships

Domestic violence doesn’t only harm the victim, it impacts the entire family, altering relationships and futures. It weakens trust, respect, and emotional connections, creating an environment of fear and control. The abuser often isolates the victim, cutting off support networks and fostering dependency, leading to feelings of helplessness.

Children exposed to abuse experience emotional trauma, fear, and confusion, deminishing the parent-child bond. They often times develop anxiety, depression, and PTSD, along with behavioral issues and difficulty forming healthy relationships. Additionally, domestic violence creates a generational cycle, with children at higher risk of becoming victims or perpetrators themselves without intervention. The damage caused by this cycle affects the overall well-being of individuals, families, and communities.
