Queer Homelessness & Housing Instability Among Youth

Access to housing is a basic human right. LGBTQ+ people are disproportionately affected by homelessness. In comparison to cisgender straight homeless youth, LGBTQ+ youth experience a higher increase in family rejection, physical assault, exploitation, trauma, mental health and substance abuse disorders. And are in a more vulnerable position due to young age, lack of resources, and limited support networks. There is an urgent need for inclusive housing policies, support systems, and community action.
