Erika Angeni Wenceslao is a multidisciplinary graphic designer based in Arizona. She is originally from the Bay Area, but has decided to pursue a B.S.D in Graphic Design at Arizona State University. When it comes to graphic design, she is driven by how it makes a significant impact on people’s lives and how it can help to solve even the most complex world problems. Aside from designing, she loves spending time with family and friends, listening to music, singing obnoxiously, journaling, watching anime, reading manga, obsessing over K-pop, and opening up some blind boxes. After graduation, she plans to keep saying “yes” to opportunities and designing to help the world.
Who Are You?
Mental Health
Cultural disconnection is the feeling of separation from an individual’s cultural roots, values, and traditions. Cultural disconnection is caused by a number of factors, such as assimilation, migration, systemic pressures, cross-cultural experiences, etc. Feeling and being culturally disconnected is a common experience, and when these internal battles persist, the consequences are both long-term and short-term. For example, when an individual becomes out of touch with their heritage, there is a disappearance of language/knowledge, inequality, fading of diversity, deterioration of mental well-being, and homogenization. Losing touch with your culture/heritage can erase an individual’s voice (or story), which further diminishes the human experience.
However, we can prevent this from continuing, but it all starts with you. Who are you?
