Dog bite statistics for the past twenty years have been misrepresented, and pitbulls paid the price. Rampant misidentification and the underfunding of dogfighting investigations have cemented their perception as a “dangerous dog”, reflecting in euthanasia rates. These inaccuracies will continue until both DNA testing is involved in dog bite cases, and funding discrepancies are amended.
