Silent Siren
Ghost Fishing
Marine ecosystems are under significant pressure, largely due to the continuous problem of abandoned fishing equipment—known as “ghost gear”—in the deep ocean. This discarded gear is now the most substantial component of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, making up 46% of the largest ocean pollution site. While small non-profit organizations bear much of the responsibility for tackling these pollutants, their limited financial capacity prevents them from effectively managing the current volume of refuse, much less preparing for future discards.
